Collective Bargaining Basics/ Review of Cutting Edge Issues

These regional programs will focus on what you need to know as you enter negotiations with your certificated and/or support staff units. Topics will include a review of the negotiations law, the role of the school board negotiating team, how to effectively prepare for negotiations, and appropriate strategies for successful resolution. You will also learn about hot bargaining topics, and proven techniques to manage these effectively. Cost is $45.

The Board’s Role in Personnel Actions/ Decisions

This workshop will focus on the school board’s role as an adjudicative body in personnel decisions. From time to time, school boards are required to conduct hearing affecting a staff member’s employment – dismissal hearings, non-renewal hearings, grievances, and many others. This workshop will address important facets of these hearings such as procedural requirements, confidentiality standards, and other important issues involved in a hearing setting. Cost is $45.
