2018 Student Scholarship Application
The New Hampshire School Boards Association (NHSBA) is proud to offer a scholarship program designed to encourage and support young people who have indicated a strong interest in pursuing a career in public education or a related field.
The NHSBA Scholarship is open to the children (including stepchildren) or grandchildren of school board members (current board members as of April 13, 2018), and whose school board is a current member of the NHSBA. Children/grandchildren of the NHSBA Board of Directors are not eligible. The awards are only open to public high school students in their senior year.
Five (5) awards of $1,500.00 will be granted, one in each of the five NHSBA Regions (North Country, Lakes, Southeast, Southwest, and South Central). A committee comprised of non-NHSBA board members will make final selections. Factors considered by the committee will be academic achievement as an indicator of future success in post-secondary education, active participation in school-sponsored, extracurricular activities and/or community service activities, an essay on Steps That My Local School Board Should Take To Promote Student Achievement (two page typewritten maximum), and three (3) letters of reference.
To apply, applicants must submit the NHSBA Scholarship Application, available below. This application asks for identification information, including the name and school district of the school board member that is father/mother, grandfather/grandmother of the applicant; a transcript of grades through the first semester of senior year; a short essay as described above, and letters of reference. Grantees (or parents/legal guardian in cases of minors) are required to sign a release authorizing the NHSBA to use their essays, names, pictures, and name of their school in announcements of the scholarship award; in promotions of the scholarship program; and in NHSBA program material.
